So today I called this candidate and he's the top contender for giving the stupidest answer of universe. I kid you not, it's worth endless times of eye rolling. If I were to interview him face-to-face, I wouldn't be able to keep a straight face and stop myself from doing this -roll eyes-. Well, even if I could, my face would be like :o are-you-f-kidding-me.
(As per normal)
Me: What's your base salary?
Him: It's confidential.
Me: The client will need to know. Everyone I screened before have disclosed to me. If you don't, I'd still have to ask you later because the client will ask.
Him: My HR told me that salary is private and confidential and I should not disclose to people.
Me: How about you let me know what's your annual package?
Him: It's over SGD 100k.
Me: Uh, that's a pretty wide range. It can be SGD 101k or SGD 199k. (He totally deserved this sarcasm)
Him: It's SGD 100k +/- 20%.
Me: .... Fine, what's your expected salary then?
(The conversation continues)
Dumbfounded. Speechless. In the worse way ever. I mean, he thinks his salary information is top secret or what. Even GMs disclose their salary information. Not the breakdown, but at least the annual package. And the lamest excuse about MY HR? Your HR your mom ah. Your HR say what means what meh. Your HR ask you go die so you go die is it. Sorry, I cannot. You can say I'm bad whatever, but seriously lah. *ROLLS EYES*
